Thin-film morphology and transistor performance of alkyl-substituted

چکیده
Studies of soluble small-molecule semiconductors based on pentacene and anthradithiophene chromophores have generally shown that molecules with strong two-dimensional solid-state interactions yield high-performance thin-film transistors, while similar compounds with onedimensional solid-state interactions form thin-film devices with significantly worse performance. As a further exploration of this issue, we describe here the synthesis and device characterization of soluble anthradithiophene derivatives functionalized at the periphery of the chromophore with small (C1–C3) alkyl chains that subtly alter the solid-state arrangements of the molecules. We demonstrate that these changes in crystal packing have significant impact on both thin-film formation and field-effect mobility. In general, materials with even nominal two-dimensional close contacts between molecules tended also to exhibit two-dimensional film growth, and generally better device performance than those with strictly one-dimensional interactions.

In this work, the Interfacial interfacial polymerization (IP) technique was employed using terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) and p-phenylenediamine (PPD), as reactant monomers, to prepare poly(paraphenylene terephthalamide) thin film composite (TFC) nanofiltration on polyethersulphone (PES) support layer. The effects of six different anionic and non-ionic surfactants, in the aqueous phase on the mor...

Field-effect transistors (FETs) were fabricated with a thin film of 3,10-ditetradecylpicene, picene-(C14H29)2, formed using either a thermal deposition or a deposition from solution (solution process). All FETs showed p-channel normally-off characteristics. The field-effect mobility, μ, in a picene-(C14H29)2 thin-film FET with PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 (PZT) gate dielectric reached ~21 cm2 V(-1) s(-1), ...
متن کاملHigh Mobility, Air-Stable Organic Transistors from Hexabenzocoronene/Carbon Nanotube Bilayers†
The pick-up-stick transistor concept is demonstrated using materials that are both air-stable and fully solution processable. In this paper, the thin film transistor (TFT) semiconductor is a bilayer structure with an array of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as an underlayer and an alkyl-substituted hexabenzocoronene (HBC) overcoat. Electrical current flowing through the structure favors the low resista...
متن کاملEffects of odd-even side chain length of alkyl-substituted diphenylbithiophenes on first monolayer thin film packing structure.
Because of their preferential two-dimensional layer-by-layer growth in thin films, 5,5'bis(4-alkylphenyl)-2,2'-bithiophenes (P2TPs) are model compounds for studying the effects of systematic chemical structure variations on thin-film structure and morphology, which in turn, impact the charge transport in organic field-effect transistors. For the first time, we observed, by grazing incidence X-r...
متن کاملProcess Optimization of Deposition Conditions for Low Temperature Thin Film Insulators used in Thin Film Transistors Displays
Deposition process for thin insulator used in polysilicon gate dielectric of thin film transistors are optimized. Silane and N2O plasma are used to form SiO2 layers at temperatures below 150 ºC. The deposition conditions as well as system operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, gas flow ratios, total flow rate and plasma power are also studied and their effects are discussed. The p...
